About Us

Our Beginning

The company was established in 1978 as Gabongan Pemborong Quarry Sdn Bhd and renamed to GPQ Sdn Bhd in 1997. GPQ Sdn Bhd or shortly known as GPQ is one of the subsidiaries to the State of Terengganu investment arm company, Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd. 

Before the establishment of GPQ, there was hardly to find local Bumiputra contractors registered in Class A with Pusat Khidmat Kontraktor (PKK). This scenario had seen many local Bumiputra contractors were only involved in small projects and it prompted the State Government to come up with an idea to form a State GLC and registered it in Class A with the participation of local Bumiputra contractors as its shareholders. GPQ has since held a Class A registration with PKK, enabling it to participate in the tenders of unlimited contract sum from all government agencies. GPQ is also registered with Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia in Grade G7. 

Since its inception, GPQ has been involved in the construction industry mainly in civil engineering works particularly building and housing projects, highway construction, and various infrastructure projects all over the State of Terengganu. All those projects indeed speak well for the company’s steadfast growth and reflect its efforts to be one of the respected industry players in the State.

For business expansion, besides being involved and well-known in construction and quarry operation, GPQ via its subsidiaries Konsortium Perumahan Rakyat Terengganu Sdn Bhd and GPQ WM Premix Sdn Bhd has also embarked on property development and premix production respectively. Since then, GPQ has been regarded by the State as one of the State GLCs that significantly contributes to the needs of housing development projects in the State of Terengganu.
